                        Really nice pics, Neil

I realised that I have a couple of shots of "Tall In The Saddle" myself, taken at Wings & Wheels in August. At the time I was quite pleased with them but realise now that I had (and still have) an awful lot to learn!

In my defence, I was only about 6 weeks into DSLR ownership, was using my 55-250 lens (the only one I owned at the time over and above the 18-55 kit lens) and the weather was overcast and grey. Anyway...

                          Hi All,

Thanks for the great comments - really appreciate them. I have to admit I'm really pleased with the first shot because that made a two page spread in FlyPast Magazine. I've only ever got small pictures in that mag before, nothing that big.

Chris, you pics look PDG to me. Look forward to seeing more of your togging.

                          Cheers,
                          Neil

Don't beat yourself up too much Chris - your images show potential and that's the most important thing!

They have context so you can tell exactly where the plane is in its flight. They have background blur to convey motion. Most importantly of all, they have prop blur! Nothing ruins a plane shot more (for me) than a frozen prop ...

I remember my early plane shots and they definitely "had potential for improvement" but they gave me both a thrill and a base point to build from.
