    Hercules Flypast, RAF Leeming

I had a quick run across to RAF Leeming to hopefully catch a few images of the trio of C130's that were doing a nationwide flypast today.

    Your comments and thoughts welcomed.

    1. Approaching Head on, tree top left in as a altitude indicator.

    2. The leader

    3. Overhead

    4. Second in the formation

    5. Third in the formation.

    6. Walking back to where I'd parked my car and this came along, it would have been rude not to grab an image

Great set Peter. I was hoping someone would catch these on their final, seeing they are not coming down my way.
The C130's were great workhorses, they can be proud of their service. I did nine of my jumps from C130's, great memories.

Great set, thank you for sharing.
I was hoping the fly past was going to be in my area, but no such luck and I had no opportunity to drive.

            Good set there...

Although the treetop in the first is a useful altitude indicator compositionally I find it a bit of a distraction...

I well remember the Hercules from my teens... Before Thorney Island became an Army base there were Hercules based there, we always knew when bad weather was clearing because you'd suddenly hear the sound of engines starting up and planes taking off and, if they came our way, they were seriously noisy as they came over the house at pretty low level...

I even remember one year they came round at Christmas time playing carols over a loudspeaker.

Great shots Peter, it was so frustrating for me , I heard them in the next Glen but never saw them on there way to Lossiemouth & coming back down they were 40 miles east of me.

Well taken Peter, I saw the news report but they never came close to my neck of the woods
