    Retro Kawasaki

    Hey everyone.

I recently took some shots of my friends 1987 Passat z1100r. This has been a bike that we both personally restored. He's a motorcycle mechanic and I'm a vehicle body repaired and spray painter by trade. This bike is so beautiful now it's all back together it was worthy of some shots.

    Hope you all like.

    Cheers

    Nathan

Feedback good or bad is hugely appreciated on these images as vehicles isn't something I normally do but a few friends are asking me to do some for there bikes now

You petrolheads know what part of the bike gets you excited so make sure you have some shots of those....in close and from an imaginative angle.
These look good to me (as a non petrol head!) but my main concern is the messy background.Red sign, blue car, doorway, half a sky...all these are distractions.Park it against a plain complementary B/G and let the bike strut its stuff.
Canon EOS R5, R6 plus the usual suspects ......

You're absolutely right about the background. This was more of a grab the camera and shoot Kind of day and just mess around really I quiet liked the open workshop door in the background as it felt to me it had just pulled out of the garage but the rest of them are distracting

Just thinking about car adverts... they are always driving on stunning open scenery, it’s never in the garage!
So a green field would be better than a wall. Some bike mags will give you ideas
Your DOF in the 2close ups pics ( your post 3) looks spot on

It’s good to see pics of a totally different subject! They are nice pics of the bike and I think show it quite well

Vehicles and bikes are something that I don’t do either so I’m no expert to pass judgement but I don’t mind providing a couple of personal thoughts. I think the background to the pics is distracting and diverts attention away from your main subject. Perhaps you could go to a park or somewhere where there is a lot of space behind the bike so can restrict the DoF to the bike itself and achieve a more uniform OOF background. Someone with more expertise than me will have to advise on the best angles to take pics of your bike!

The other thing I would say is a general comment on the pics themselves. Is it possible for you to display larger higher res versions? Yours come up quite small. I put my pics into flickr and post the BBCode for them 800 pix wide into the forum message but there are alternatives to flickr. Just a thought as it would show your pics off best.
