      Lovely shots Trev

      I'll probably regret asking this but what is the purpose of the two side plates either side of the boiler at the front? They are also present on the Flying Scot. It must be airflow somehow, it wouldn't be decoration.

        I’ve not got a clue Ian, have often wonder this myself. Think you may be right something to do with airflow

                Top of the class for Alan, they are smoke deflectors also known as ‘Blinkers:’ they deflect the smoke away from the drivers view.

                    At least the smoke deflectors don't look so 'wrong' here as they do on Flying Scotsman...
