Recommendations for Compact Flash memory cards

Hi there,

I am looking to get a couple of new compact flash cards for my Canon eos 50d. I am looking to get something like a 8Gb or 16Gb.

What would you recommend? I am interested in something that is fairly fast (doesn`t have to be professional speed) and quality.

I only recommend Sandisk Extreme CompactFlash or Lexar Pro CompactFlash cards.
Sandisk Extreme are fast, reliable and generally a great price from Amazon.
16Gb for £43.00ish is a great price at Amazon HERE

The only time I used a card other than Sandisc, it went wrong on me. And that was a recognised quality make.

Sandisc every time for me. You pay a few pennies more, but they are fast and reliable. My only word of caution, but from a reputable source. Too many fakes on auction sites.

Sandisk Pro or Lexar Pro for me. I also had another quality make go wrong (on a trip to Norway).

Given what we spend on cameras and lenses I'm always amazed that some people I know grumble at £5 difference in the price of a card at a reputable online dealer and 'other sources'. So as ColinC says ... the small difference in price of a Pukka card and one who’s provenance can’t be checked is worth paying for peace of mind.

most of mine are Sandisk but I got a Kingston Compact Flash 16GB - 266x a couple of months back and it works very well and a reasonable price
