    Eye-Fi Pro X2

Anyone using the Eye-Fi Pro X2? If you are or have used it, can you give your assessment of the card.

Tom, I have one and it works fine in my Canon & Lumix P&S cameras. The photos appear as they should straight onto my PC or iPad. The bad news is that I have tried one in a CF to SD adapter in my 40D. Works fine as a memory card BUT it won't wifi, this is a shame as that is what i really wanted it for, still it gives me an excuse to upgrade to a 6D.

A friend of mine has one which he used in his 5D3 linking to his Apple Mac and iPad which worked great, he has stopped using now unless really needed as it was hammering the camera battery.

Both my eye-fi pro x2 and my transcend WiFi SD cards work fine with my SD to CF card adapter in my 1Dx. You need to get an adapter that supports wifi sd cards such as this one

A non scientific test reveals that the transcend card is a good 40% faster than the eye-fi card. The main advantage of the eye-fi card is that it will immediately dump your raw or jpeg files to and location that you chose on your hard drive. I get Lightroom to watch that folder and add them to the library directly. Both card talk to my iPad or iPhone fine. I use shuttersnitch with both cards, the eye-fi will dump raw or jpeg files but the transcend only sends jpegs. The transcend can be set up to turn off it's wifi function if no network is found (you can specify which SSID's that you use) after a set time, and thus save battery usage in your camera.

I generally set up my camera to save raw and medium jpeg. That way I will get a file on the iPad in about 6 to 10 seconds.

I use one every now and then, I wrote a mini-review of it ages ago, but can't find the post now!

They're good cards, great if you want to immediately download to an iPhone or iPad. I shoot in raw and 2.5mp JPEG and transfer the JPEG' s to the iPad/Phone. The App is a little flakey, and tends to get constipated and consume vast quantities of memory, and the setting software isn't the most intuitive I've ever come across, but overall I think they're worth the outlay.

Scuff, unfortunately even that adapter says it won't work with the 40D but it will with the 30D and the 50D. No wonder the 40D is better than either of the other two :) but unfortunately it doesn't help me at the moment :(

I'm using one with the M - the advantage being that after dumping files in the cloud, I can access them with any device immediately.
Please don't ask about my kit, it's embarrassing!

I got one and use it on the M. I like as if there is a image I shot that I want to share, I can easily dump it over to the iPhone tweak it with Snapseed and it is ready to share.
