Urquhart Castle - the 'second most photographed castle in Scotland'?

Photographed from the very busy carpark and processed to mono in Silver Efex Pro 2:

IMG_4391-Edit by John Leah, on Flickr

The colour original is on Flickr.

Nessie was top-right but dived just as pressed the shutter - honest!

    Cheers,
    John

nice shot and the processing works well 9/10 would have been 10/10 had you got nessie :)

Nice image John, but you need to work on your dodging and burning to bring out more in this image

Thanks Tom. I'm afraid my mono conversions are cheats by selecting the nearest preset and, maybe, adjust slightly. Analogue dodging and burning I could do years ago in the darkroom but is a digital is a skill I've yet to master although I recognise it's something I could benefit from

I like the inclusion of the tourists within the image John, I think it works with this location. The OOF shrubs in the foreground I personally don't think help the composition, but that's just me, others may disagree.

              Thanks Peter

I agree about the shrubs but the edge of the carpark appears to be deliberately kept overgrown to encourage visitors to pay their admission to gain clearer, but lower, spots. I was only able to poke the camera through the best hole I could find but, when I return someday in a car, will take some loppers and/or stepladder along

              Cheers,
              John
