    Full screen?

I do not know what I did but I have pressed some key or the other any my screen is only about 80% full and the letters and pictures appear to be squashed. Apart from the rather distorted images I am getting, everything is working fine. I use Windows Vista.

Any help in getting my screen to it's normal full screen display will be much appreciated.

    Many thanks.

Nat if you right click on your desk top I think there should be a menu for screen resolution and you need to set it to your particular monitor, not familiar with Vista I went from XP to Windows 8 hope this helps

      Re: Full screen?

I have now taken a photo of my desk top showing the problem I have got- squashed desktop icons and subsequent shrink of my screen. Any one knows how I can get back to normality? i.e how it was?

      Many thanks in anticipation.

I have tried this but still the problem persists? Should I try system restore and go back to a point in time when it was OK?

I'm guessing you've changed resolution, but you're still choosing one with the wrong aspect ratio. You seem to have a 4:3 when it should be something else, probably 16:9. Try Changing it to 1920x1080 (if available) and see if that solves it.

              Hi Nathaniel,

As it's an LG Flatron 2234s, the specifications show the resolution should be 1680 x 1050 - is that what you have it set to?

Is there any chance you have pressed buttons on the monitor to do this? I know some monitors you can stretch / shrink screen etc.

                  Re: Full screen?

Thanks guys for all your support and advice. Most grateful for that. Yes, my resolution is at the correct spec which is 1680 x1050 and it is also the maximum. I cannot go beyond that as the slider won't go beyond the maximum. Andy I might have accidentally pressed some button to "shrink" the images and I don't know where to find this button CONSIOUSLY to stretch it back to have the full screen. I have a logitek K120 keyboard and an HP Pavillion computer.

                    Re: Full screen?

Are there buttons on the monitor. A menu button. In the menus then try and find the buttons that can stretch screen up down left right. Usually arrows.

                      Re: Full screen?

Another thought. You might not be in widescreen mode on the monitor so again if there is a menu button on monitor check display settings for widescreen mode and that you've not put it to 4:3 or whatever the old settings used to be LOL

                        Re: Full screen?

Thanks Andy. I have seen the buttons which are as black as the ace of spades. With the aid of a torch I saw the menu button and next to it a button marked "wide". I pressed this and lo and behold, everything is back to normal. I have accidentally pressed some shrink button which brought the screen to the size I have complained about. However, now everything is as it should be and many thanks for all your help. This problem also helped me to set my resolution right and thanks to Alan, Andy mulhearn and Woolley- I did check the aspect ratios as well since your post (Woolley).

Ah, I was guessing. Not as wide as I'd guessed, then. Happy you've got a resolution to your resolution problem!
