This morning I contacted Canon support to talk about this problem and was given the stock answer, check the website for recalls, (there is none) or if not return the camera for repair and you will be informed of the cost of repair.
Not really very encouraging as you cannot speak directly to anyone who may have further information or be able to make a decision.
I contacted another Canon service agent and was quoted £220 + vat for a standard repair, not very good for a just under 2 year old camera.
All in all this leaves a bad taste about Canon service, what do I do, bite the bullet and send it to Canon and hope at their discretion that the do a FOC repair or get rid of my Canon gear and change allegiance.
