    Down loading images from a 1d mk2

I recently bought a second hand 1d mk2 , unfortunatley it didn`t come with the original software ,i`ve tried canon uk, us and australia and it seems i`m unable to get it, one guy was kind enough to give me a version 18 of the canon software to no avail , what i`d like to know is what other 1d mk2 owners download their images with , i have PS elements 9 , serif photo plus x 5 and the canon software that came with my 1000d , it`s getting frustrating can anyone help please?

I was under the impression that you can just update the current version with the download from the Canon site???

Doesn't the 1d use a memory card which you can plug in your pc to extract the content, as it were an usb stick?

Did you realise that the 1Dii will only transfer images via the firewire connection, and then only to XP on 32 bit?
The usb connection can only be used for direct printing.
I just whip out the card and pop it in a reader
            Hope this helps?

No I didn't realise this thanks, is a FireWire cable a standard item ? By that I mean not specific to any one camera

Re: Down loading images from a 1d mk2

It was a standard cable when usb 1.0 was the standard, due to it being faster, but the more modern usb connections are faster and more commonly used.
If you can find a computer running xp 32 bit with a firewire connection, then you will be able to get it to communicate with the camera, but other than that you are stuck with card readers unfortunately mate I have had the same hassle by trying to shoot tethered with mine, haven't found a solution yet.......

I have a 1D Mk11. i just put the card in a card reader, plug it into a USB point, put the images into a folder in My Documents & then open them in DPP
