    Canon 5D mkii. Focus Issues

Hi hope someone on this forum could help me. I recently purchased a Canon 5D mkii and i am experiencing problems with the focus. If i put a 100mm lens on and focus on something close all is good but then try to focus on something far away the camera will not focus on the object. i have tried this on 3 lenses in total and the same think happens.
    Any advice woud be appreciated.

Not as silly a question as it may sound, but what exactly makes you say it won't focus.

Have you actually taken a picture and looked at it on the back screen? If so, is it still out of focus?
    Have you tried manual focus?
Have you inadvertantly moved the eyepiece dipotre adjustment?

Are you manually focussing or AF?

        Hi Steve,

Thre question is - which 100mm lens? The 5Dii is a full frame camera and some lenses won't work with it properly.

I was going to ask the same question.

Which focus points are you using? The camera will focus on the nearest object if you have all points active.
I only use the centre focus point, lock focus and recompose if neccesary.
All canon lenses (EF, NOT EF-S) should work on the camera.
I have no trouble with my 100mm F/2.0

I also generally only use the centre point, it is more sensitive than the others and I'm generally not looking at moving objects so it works for me. I have not had any of the reported problems even with all points active. The wider the maximum aperture of the lens, the more reliable the focussing should be, as more light comes in for the focussing system to detect.
