    7D Firmware update

    Will the forthcoming update be worth installing or best left alone ?

    Depends if you are going to use the new features and are happy doing a firmware upgrade.

      Always worth having something for nothing including the improvements, like having a new camera.

        Does anyone know when the firmware upgrade will appear? I know it is supposed to be August but mid/end?

          I have been asking myself the same question and have searched the internet without an answer.

              Hi deefadog, I think this is one firmware that will definately be an improvement for the 7d. and worth uploading.

                  I have seen the 7th, but will give it a couple of weeks before installing
                  40D, 70D. 400 5.6, 70-200 2.8IS, 17-50 2.8, 150 2.8 Macro, EOS-M3

                      Yes ... you'll need a blank CF card and follow the instructions Canon supply to the letter!

                          ...or you can do it from your PC via a USB connection to your camera. It is simple enough, but if you get it wrong, your camera will have to have a trip to Canon.

                              I have yet to find the promised "File Name Customisation".
