It will be interesting to see the outcome - I suspect it the new one will somewhat better than the 5D3. The need to have high speed shooting will be a major factor, to move to significantly larger shot size would mean new technology to be able to write the files fast enough So I would guess a more conservative picture size - say 25mp - would put it on the par with the competition.

it would be nice,and even better if they priced it reasonably ,but with 1dmk4's still getting circa £2000 second hand its a pipe dream on a pension ,oh well dream on

If you want a quality photo then it is still hard to beet a 1DS3 (although max iso is realistically 1600)

I can only hope it will depress the price of a 5D III somewhat.

There's a 7D mk II in the works, too, apparently.

One snag - historically Canon have been really really good at keeping secrets, the rumour sites largely useless with their predictions, so I think I'll wait and see on this one...

Then again predicting another 1 series in the future is a bit like saying there will be an 800D or an EOS-M2... probably true at some point.

Personally I'd like a 3D with 40MP in a 6D sized body
Though I'm not feeling the need to save up for that as winning the lottery is about as likely... perhaps...
(Still, the A7r is impressive, so maybe Canon will do something... There's the new old Nikon too... Maybe they're waiting for the World economy to improve...)
