    15,000 Stills on a 400d to create a video

    Hi all,

I've just completed a project whereby we shot over 15,000 stills on a Canon EOS 400D in order to create a music video... you can check out the results here: http://www.vimeo.com/9459452

Agreed... but it does beg the question... WHY?

Any bets on the answer being along the lines of 'because we could'

Ha ha, true to a point... :) there was a couple of factors really... we liked the feel the effect gave, and felt it suited the music... also it was nice to be able to get a quality of image and depth of field that would not have been possible without spending money on high end video cameras... so that's the essence of it really, we had the time but very little money...

also it was handy to have lightweight gear as the location was over an hours walk from the road...

As a matter of interest; just how long did it take you to put it all together, and what software did you use to 'stitch' the images into a video?

I think the end result works very well.

              10 Mp camera = 70 images per Gb ?

15000 images = approx 214 Gb. Did you have lots of CF cards or did you take a laptop or somthing to hold all the pictures ?

We shot at a lower res of 1936 x 1288 which worked out at about 2mb per image so we got a lot more pics on each card... It was shot over 3 days and we used Final Cut Pro to put it all together.

That's amazing. It's weird, imaginative, disturbing and enthralling. It's like real life stop-animation. I don't think I've seen anything quite like it. Brilliant work.
