    Digital File Volume

For many years I have been mass converting RAW to TIFF using the DPP software. For images shot on EOS 5D MK II, I was getting files as big as 60 MB, with image size 40X27 cm and 350 ppi resolution. Lately I decided to convert images from RAW to TIFF individually, after processing them, using the PS Elements 8. Much to my surprise, I discovered that the resulting image volume is about 14,8 MB, size is 29X19 cm and the resolution only 240 ppi.
    I would appreciate any explanation.

Also to add, DPP if converted to Tiff doesn't compress the files. In photoshop you can chose the compression to lossless, or no compression! As mentioned before in the other post ref to the above link, 16bit and 8 bit files make a HUGE difference!! My 350D saved in Tiff via DPP is 22.9MB (8 bit file) That is full file size with no cropping involved!

        Re: Digital File Volume

I am using the same color depth (8-bit TIFF images). I am, actually, comparing "equal" things. One aspect that I must still experiment with which I overlooked before my first post: I found that there are 3 RAW settings in my camera and I need to check which one I have used, so I apologize in case the data I have quoted are not accurate. I will return with more information.
