Adjusting shutter speed whilst in AV Mode?

May seem a stupid/simple question, but how do you set the shutter speed whilst in AV mode on a Canon 70D, (or the aperture whilst in TV mode)?

In Av mode the shutter speed adjusts automatically depending on exposure compensation and metering values. In Tv it adjusts aperture automatically. Both settings are controlled by the control dial near the shutter.

If I understand your question properly- the answer is you don't. You need to set the top dial to "M" and then you can set both the aperture and shutter speed to what you want.
      Hope that helps

Re: Adjusting shutter speed whilst in AV Mode?

Both Tv and Av effectively lock the exposure value according to the cameras perception of correct. They allow the camera to adjust one value only. Turning the scroll wheel to adjust the fixed value, be it aperture in Av or shutter speed in Tv, will result in the camera changing the other to suit. In a fixed light scenario both modes will give the same results. So the answer is to use the scroll wheel to change the value of the fixed figure, the other will change automatically to keep the exposure the same.
