    What goes around comes around!

I bought my first Canon SLR, a 50E in 1999. As well as getting a couple of kit lenses - a 28/80 zoom and a 75/300 zoom - I got various bits and pieces as part of the deal - a battery grip that let me use AA batteries as an alternative to the 2CR5
battery, a leather Canon camera bag, an RC1 remote control and a copy of the Canon book EF Lens Work II. Although I switched to digital in 2006 I held on to the 50E etc.

I've now bought a 7D and to my surprise I see that the RC1 works with it. The batteries are knackered so I've bought new ones on eBay so I can use it. The moral is obviously not to throw out photographic gear because you never know when it will come in handy!
    EOS 5D; EOS 7D; 50mm f1.8 (mk I); 28/80mm f3.5/5.6 (Mk IV); 24/105mm f4 L IS; 70/200mm f4 L IS; 1.4 X TC; Sigma 10/20mm f3.5 DC HSM; Sigma 18/50mm f2.8/4.5 DC OS HSM; Speedlite 430EX II.

I still have a 50e too. I loved the eye controlled focus, and wish it was still a feature that was available.

I liked my 50E so much that when it became unusable due to metal fatigue in the latch I searched for, and eventually found, a second hand one to replace it, even though I will probably never use it!

Agree about eye controlled autofocus, why can't it be put into digital cameras?

When I replaced the 50E with a 30D I had to buy a new (wired) remote, which was annoying, but when I bought a 70D I found the remote had reverted to the type used for the 50E! Glad I hadn't thrown it away!
