I bought my first Canon SLR, a 50E in 1999. As well as getting a couple of kit lenses - a 28/80 zoom and a 75/300 zoom - I got various bits and pieces as part of the deal - a battery grip that let me use AA batteries as an alternative to the 2CR5
battery, a leather Canon camera bag, an RC1 remote control and a copy of the Canon book EF Lens Work II. Although I switched to digital in 2006 I held on to the 50E etc.
I've now bought a 7D and to my surprise I see that the RC1 works with it. The batteries are knackered so I've bought new ones on eBay so I can use it. The moral is obviously not to throw out photographic gear because you never know when it will come in handy!
