5D mk 111 Auto focus in program P

Hi, I cannot set auto focus on my 5D whilst in program P, it works in ' Scene Inteigent ' so I know it all works, but I cannot make auto focus work in other programs. Saviour required please, thanks , Bewildered

daft question here auto focus your mean the setting on the lens for A/M ?

yea, when i select auto focus on lens, then select scene inteligent, the camera will auto focus, if how ever i select program P it will not auto focus despite selecting auto focus mode?

I've never used scene intelligent or come to think of it P mode either as I'm, either in AV or M

If you use the any other settings ( AV / TV / M) I presume auto focus works? do you have another lens?

I have just placed my lens on to my 600D selected 'P' and auto focus works, when I put the lens on my 5D select 'P' no auto focus,

what about other settings - it should AF in P mode but you need to test other settings

I have changed the lens and still the same problem, I think that I have changed a setting but which one?

turn the camera to AV / TV / M any will do

The auto focus only appears to work in Scene Inteligent, It can't be my camera, can it?

if the camera won't AF when out of scene intelligent then yes its my view you have a fault with the camera - was it new? did you buy it local

Also the camera does have a factory reset switch, try going into that section and resetting the camera, it maybe that something very odd has been set up

I've a 5D3 but never used program (P) mode so can't comment on your problem. However, I'll have a plan a bit later and see if I can reproduce the problem.

same as you Ant but the camera must Autofocus in P mode - mines in the house so I'll look later but its really pointless... What we need to know is if the camera will AF in other modes

Tigger, thank you for your answers today although the problem is not solved I appreciate your correspondence, I shall take my camera back to the shop as I am exhusted trying to work it out. I have been on lots of sights, the thing that throws me is that the lens works and the camera works in the green mode, the rest TV AV and M will not auto focus, i am stumped. Best Regards Clive
