    Canon 5D MIII and 430EX-III

    Hi,

Anybody know how to wirelessly trigger a 430EX-III from a 5DM3? Or do I need the Speedlite transmitter? I thought the 5Dm3 could do it.

...and I think I've just found my answer....the 430EX-III can be a master on camera and wirelessly control slaves but off camera you need the ST-E3-RT.

Or another 430EXIII-Rt, which is about the same price as an ST-E3-RT and gives you a more versatile set up.

Or just buy some wireless triggers, and free your lighting setup completely!

I use Yongnuo YN622C triggers, and can recommend them. Other makes and models are available.

That's not a bad shout. So am I right in thinking the ST-E3-RT has all the radio stuff....its just missing the actual flash part?

I've already got some Combi TFs. They do the job.

That's how I see it, looking at the specifications for both they are the same when it comes to the wireless functions. I can't understand Canon producing the ST-E3-RT without an optical master control facility as well as the Radio one, to me that would be the only way the ST-E3 would be superior and justify the price.
