I have vari-focal specs which gave me a lot of trouble so I fitted a +3 Dioptre lens over the view finder that brought the finer adjustment of the Dioptre wheel into play so now I don't need the glasses unfortunately that brings another problem into play, where do you put the glasses when you've got the camera on your face.

For me, I wear my specs and turn the wheel until the display at the bottom is as sharp as possible. Very easy to do, and I'm sure Most wearers do the same. But what are the cons of my way?

None that I know of - it's what I do...

If the info is in focus then so is the focusing screen which is all you really want.

Exactly what I do. I wear variofocal and don't have any problems. Also keeping specs on helps when reviewing images for example.
