    Suitable flash for 7D MkII?

    Hi!

Just wondered if this Jessops 280 AFC Flash was suitable to use with a 7D Mk II? Reading elsewhere that it's not suitable for any EOS DSLR though I did use it successfully with my previous 600D.

    Cheers,
    Phil

It says in the advert that it's not suitable for any Canon Digital camera.

It might work in a limited way with the 7DII, but you really need a Jessops unit with an AFD suffix. I would have thought a 7DII merits something a bit better anyway.

if cost is a problem then look at the Yonguno range of flash units, they are similar in many respects to their Canon equivalents but at a fraction of the price - for example their YN-600EX-RT looks and has the same range of features as the Canon 600 EX for £85 at Amazon

I agree with Stan regarding the Yonguno flash units. I have two YN560-2 models that are very similar to my Canon 580 EX2 they are very good value for money.

Many thanks for the suggestion of Yonguno, had a quick look at reviews and looks promising. Also saw reference to the even cheaper Shanny - http://www.amazon.co.uk/SHANNY-camer.../dp/B00W6UMJTC - anyone any experience or can offer a comparison?

          Appreciate the comments.

Never come across that make before but spec looks quite good but not a lot cheaper than the yonguno. A lot of members on here have yonguno flashguns and I cant remember any negative comments so if I were in the market for another gun, I would stick with what I know

I wouldn't risk it. The trigger voltage is different for film and digital. You could damage your camera.

Something I had never given thought to when I was using it with the 600D just assumed a flash was a flash!
