    Re: Standby or Power off

Thank you ALL very much for all the advice received on re switching on and off the camera. I was only wondering whether the on/off switch will get worn by constantly turning it on and switching it off. To keep it ON for the duration of the photo session, makes a lot of sense to me.

      Re: Standby or Power off

I mostly put mine off unless I know I'm going to be taking some more fairly soon. Certainly it goes off every time I switch lenses. Also, every time you switch off your sensor gets a shaking so I suspect it's better practice to use the switch.

The same for me. It goes on off when I have taken the pictures. It goes on the minute when I am going to shoot In no time after turning on,
you can shoot. With a compact camera you have to wait a lot before you can take a picture, that is a major disadvantage.

          Re: Standby or Power off

In the short term, repeatedly switching on & off will use more power. But the camera will use more power in sleep mode than it will if turned fully off. - I found this out when I had inadvertently put it away and not turned it off properly - both batteries in the grip dead and that after a period where they wouldn't normally be drained.
