    Back Button Focus

My friend has just got a second-hand 5D MKIV.

The camera is set to the Back Button Focus but he does not want that.

Does anyone know the settings to have so it is NOT on the BBF?

He will be happy if I can give him the info, thank you.

Colin sorry that screen grab if the camera manual isn't very clear.
To remove BBF off the 5D4, press menu button on the rear of the camera, then select the Orange menu page 3 of that menu has "Custom Controls" choose that.
You will then see a screen showing all of the camera buttons. The top left button is the shutter button, when BBF is set that button function will be " Half Press Metering start". That needs to be changed to AF, doing so will assign "Metering and AF Start" to the shutter button. To do so press the button icon on the rear screen and change the setting to AF.
Then choose the icon for the "AF-On" button to confirm that that is set to AF.

It might make more sense for your friend to reset all of the settings to the default and then set it up as they want.

Colin I would agree with the above. Tell him to go to Default and re-set. I assume there is a re-set,
