I have 3 canon bodies now- 60d,600d and the 450d. Whilst on holiday (after buying the 60d) I had attached the Sigma on the 450d, the 15-85 on the 60d & the 70-200 on the 600d. This was of course a luxury in that I could choose a lens very quickly by just picking up the relevant camera body. However , the weight is on the heavy side for me, and am thinking of getting rid of the 450d (2 yrs old) and either continue with only the two bodies or trade it in for a decent lens. What would members suggest? I don't think I will use the 450d a lot.

Re: Canon 450d- advice please
Hi Nathaniel
The 60D & 600D are technically superior to the 450D.
Second hand on eBay you'll probably get £250+ for just the camera.
If you add a 18-55mm kit lens to the bundle and have the original boxes then someone may buy it as a xmas pressie for someone.
You can always try to trade it in for something else but I doubt anyone will offer more than £250 as a trade in.
Just my opinion.

Re: Canon 450d- advice please
Then again the 450D will be a lot lighter than the other two. If you want a basically better quality compact camera to take somewhere where photography isn't the main aim, then that with a kit lens or (even more so) a nifty fifty might be worth considering. I'd think about that first. If you have a good compact camera then maybe not, but the 450D will be a lot better in low light, such as indoors.

Re: Canon 450d- advice please
Thanks Stephen & Dr. Jon for your advice. Since I have a reasonable Compact (Canon Powershot 130IS) I have decided to sell my 450d, with less than 2000 actuations!! Ebay is of course my easy option. Anyway I can avoid the high Paypal fees? Bank transfer?Canon 6D; Canon 760D;Canon G15;Canon 40mm f2.8(Pancake);Canon 50mm f1.8(ii); Canon 17mm-40mm f4L;Canon EF-S 10-18mm f4.5-5.6 IS STM;Canon EF-S 55-250mm f4-5.6 STM lens;Canon 24mm-105mmf4L IS;Canon 70-300mm f4-f5.6 L IS USM;Kenko 1.4x HD TC;Canon 430EX ii flash;Giottos tripod;Manfretto monopod;Cokin P filters + bits and pieces!

Re: Canon 450d- advice please
Sorry to hijack your thread but notice you own the 2 cameras I am thinking of upgrading to. The 60D and 600D. Thinking of upgrading to one of these in the new year from my 500D, can you offer any thoughts on the 2, I'm leaning more towards the 60D assuming my pocket can afford it.
Bank transfer, or cash on collection would be the way to go with your ebay sale.Previously "The Real Swoosh"

Re: Canon 450d- advice please
With regards selling something a lot of people (quite sensibly) will not pay by bank transfer unless they have received the goods. This method of payment has virtually no protection for the buyer and is widely used in scams. Paypal is a much safer way to buy something that you are not collecting in person.TS-E17 F4L, 70-300L, 100 F2.8L Macro. http://www.flickr.com/photos/waynelsworth/

Re: Canon 450d- advice please
Hi! folks. thanks for all your advice. Yes, I'd use Ebay & Paypal but I do grude their high fees. I am of course loath to sell it but 3 camera bodies for an Amateur is a luxury plus I am a pensioner now!!!Re the 600d & 60d, both are very good complementary cameras (for me) in that they have similar controls etc. But the 60d is a better choice as it has got a bit more going for it. If your budget is OK, go for the 60d and you will not be disappointed. I was able to use this straight from the box as I did with the 600d. The 60d also has a higher ISO than the 600d. It was the highter ISO and the vari anlge LCD which made me upgrade to first the 600d and then the 60d. These two camera bodies, hopefully will serve me well into the future as photograpy is a only a hobby for me.

Re: Canon 450d- advice please
60D is basically 600D+, so if you can afford it, that should be the better choice.
600D is 450D+ several years development. Not much point in keeping it unless you need it as back-up.Canon EOS7D mkII+BG-E16, Canon EOS 7D+BG-E7, Canon EF-S 10-22 f/3.5-4.5, Tamron Di-II 17-50 f2.8, Canon EF 24-105 f/4L IS, Canon EF 70-200 f/4L, Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC HSM 'Art', Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM, Sigma 1.4x DG, Canon Speedlight 430EX II (x2)

Re: Canon 450d- advice please
BTW interesting new camera size comparison site. (Note you have to change camera orientations separately.)
It's just started, so cameras are being added slowly. (Oh, and I've suggested adding European names for the Rebels... http://camerasize.com/suggest.htm)
