Flash slave operation

I have a now unused Sunpak hammerhead flash unit that I would like to get a bit more use of. The way I would see to do it would be to use a slave unit to fire the Sunpak from my 430X, but some units state they are not compatible if using an EX due to the preflash. Can anyone advise if I am on a lost cause, or if there are slave units capable of firing the other flash remotely?

OK, lets try again! Anyone able to advise if there is a way I can utilize my old flash in conjunction with my 430EX? I was thinking to use it for fill flash or similar. Or even if it is not possible it would help to know.

Why not try it and see and tell the rest of us what you find?

Possibly use them both off camera with Pocket Wizards or the cheap Chinese versions?
