It seems that the (very) log awaited flash-transmitter is finally available for Canon cameras. The Other YN622C User Guide on Google Docs has been updated to include the YN622c-TX as well.
I bought one during the week (£46 from eBay) and have tried it out this morning.
First impressions are that it works as expected. Using the transmitter to set flash-group A,B, and C mode (manual, ETTL, multi) is far quicker than delving into the camera flash menu and setting group FEC is very quick even compared to Canon's quick-menu system. Being able to zoom each group remotely is a real boon too, as is its ability to shoot HSS via wireless. The biggest benefit for me though is the ability to stick the new transmitter on the end of a flash cable and hand-hold it when the camera is inaccessible, allowing me to alter the four YN622C equipped remote flashguns's settings without going near them
I've yet to try out the remote-shooting mode (using a YN622C as a trigger) or the mask-modes whereby you can used the transmitter to shoot mask images without background or key lights. There's also a YN560iii compatibility mode, but as my YN650 isn't wireless, that won't be something I'll be using!
One niggle is that the controls aren't entirely intuitive, and often a couple of button-presses are required to scroll to the desired parameter before the cursor-buttons can be used to alter said setting, the time you then have to select your desired value is limited to a few seconds, and often I found the display had dimmed and I needed to reselect my desired parameter again before I could achieve my desired setup. The cursor-buttons adjustment of flash-power/FEC is quick and easy though. The lack of a pass-through hot-shoe on top may put people off too.
Overall though it has impressed me thus far, it's more expensive than a straight 622C, but does come with a pair of shutter-cables (both N3 and E3) and it's firmware is user-updatable.
