        Hi Longshot,

I had an 18-200mm lens, before I sold it. I found it to be a good lens on the 7D. If you're looking for a walkabout lens that's not heavy and a reasonable price then I think the Canon 18-200 mm lens is worth a serious consideration.

If I was going away for 12 months and I couldn't take the 3 zoom lenses that you have I think I would do one of two things, either go with a list similar to what Brian has suggested, but swapping out the 24-105 and 70-200 for a 50-250 lens but you would be sacraficing a little on the quality but saving on weight. Alternatively take just a body and say the 24-105 and buy something when you get there with a view to either leaving it in Canada or selling it when you return

I would add your 1.4x and that would be my choice.

If weight was a problem, I would leave out clothes 'n stuff. Plenty cheap enough over there.

I'd agree with Brian though I have the 70-300L.

I also have a Tamron 18-270 VR PZD which works quite well on my 7d but is actually my wife's primary lens, an she is very pleased with it on her 500d
