    advice on lense please

hi i have a 500d with 2 lenses first is a ef-s 17-55 is and a ef 75-300 i am wanting to upgrade to some better lenses and am thinking of keeping the ef-s but getting the following .
    a canon ef-s 10-22mm usm
    ef 70-300 is usm

i like to shoot scenery and wildlife and people would you be happy with these or are there better alternatives ?
also i have read that for portraits a 50mm is ideal is this true and which one would you recomend ?

also where would you recommend to buy lenses from at good prices have looked on ebay but i bought a dodgy lense on there once before and am wary now .

    many thanks

I can recommend the EF 70-300 IS USM it is an excellent lens for the money, I am delighted with mine..

The EF-S 17-55mm lens is a great lens.
To add to this then maybe the EF-S 55-250mm IS lens, better than the 75-300mm and very affordable new.

I love my 10-22 and it sits nicely at the lower end of your focal lenghts. Try Flash Camera (Ian Kerr) website for sensible prices and excellent service.

I would agree with Stephen. The 55-250 is fantastic value

The 10 - 22mm and 55 - 250mm are two lenses that I rate very highly. It's unfortunate they won't fit on my body.
