Thanks for the heads up. I've been using the 40mm w/no problems so far. (Knock on wood) Will be keeping an eye open for the software up date.

Tom - there's a gotcha ... "Cameras that can be used for the firmware update:Canon EOS-1D X, Canon EOS 5D Mark III, or Canon EOS Kiss X6i/REBEL T4i/650D" ... so not my 7D. A see a visit to a pro dealer with a 5D3 or 1DX handy ;-)

Thanks for the info re firmware but am unsure what action to take with my 600D in the UK. Have not dealt with firmware before but can it go in the camera from a download or do I have to get this done at a dealer? Haven't bought the 40mm lens yet so is there any possibility of new ones not needing the firmware?
