Until 5pm this afternoon (Wednesday 23rd October) Amazon are offering the above lens at almost £200 off their usual price, and around £150 less than Camera Price Buster's best price. It's still £1,709 though

That's a good price, but it's still a lot of money. I have one and I still think "wow, I paid that for it!" occasionally, especially as the 8-15 is half the price and much sharper, although has much much more distortion too...

I resisted temptation....but still have my eye on an 8-15 at some point

At that price surely the 16-35 would be better value? Although its the 24-70 on my most wanted list.

Think I paid just under £1600 for mine through amazon last March?

Problem was I always ended up using the 16-35 instead for the final image on 9/10 occasions.
So I (reluctantly) chopped it in toward my 85L last month.

I echo anyone's sentiments who claim how sharp from corner it is though,and wish my 16-35 distortion was anywhere near half as good.
