Re: What is you most used lens?

Number 1 lens for me is the 70-300 L as I mainly 'do wildlife'.
Closely followed by my excellent 15-85 which I use for 'everything else', which leaves my 50mm F104 at home 99.7% of the time.
Whilst this is not 'news' to me, it has made me think I would benefit from using the 50mm more, as the quality is really good, so maybe I'll have a 50mm month sometime soon!

    Interesting thread! Thanks.

Re: What is you most used lens?

For the last year on my Canon body I expect it'll be the 8-15 (comfortably) followed by the 85/1.2 then (in order) the 300/2.8 (sometimes with extenders), 24-105, 40/2.8, 14/2.8 and 70-200 f2.8 II.
      For m43 it'll be the 35-100 (70-200 equiv) f2.8 followed by the 24-70 (equiv) f2.8 then the 200-600 equiv.
Everything else has fixed lenses :-)

Next year I expect the 40/2.8 to disappear somewhat (I just use the RX100) and the 12-35 to move up the m43 order as it's a great video lens.

Re: What is you most used lens?

The two lenses that live most of the time on my Canons are the Sigma 17-70 and the Sigma 10-20. Third place would go to a tele zoom either an old 70-210 or more recently the 55-250 IS. Other lenses tend to be used mostly if I feel it's time they had an outing or I'm doing something that specifically requires a certain lens, eg my 200-400 (Tamron, sadly) for cricket.

        Such is the versatility of the 10-20, 17-70 & 55-250 that I've ended up a similar trio of 10-24, 18-70 & 55-300 for my ageing D50 Nikon...whistling.gif

300mm glued to camera for football/rugby, x2 extender glued to 300mm when Cricket, 24-105mm when it comes to any team photos,
Dusting of the cobwebs on the 100mm macro now spring has sprung!

Never use 135mm f2 one that will have to go

Just to be different the 24-105 is the lens that stays on my 5Diii with the 70-300L being the next most used lens.

Can I be honest and say that it changes... at the moment my macro lens has been on the camera and not been removed for a month... before that my 70-300 usm lived on the camera. I keep looking at other lens but just can't make my mind up and don't want to spend once and regret twice... if you know what I mean.

Re: What is you most used lens?

I have rationalised and use just 3 lenses, depending on what my subject is. Perhaps the 24-105 is marginally more used as it is my walk about lens. However, when I am taking wild life it is the 70-200f4L +1.4 TCii. For low light and interior pictures I use my 50mm f1.4. I may go in for a wide angle covering the 15mm-24mm range at some point in time, but this is not an immediate priority for me. My rationale is that I must use the equipment I have got as much as possible, without leaving it unused inside my camera bags.

It's the 24-105 for me, it's very rarely off the camera.

For me its my Tamron 70-300 largely due to photographing local kestrels.

Normally I'd say my 24-105 as its my preferred walk rounds lens.

Re: What is you most used lens?

All depends on what you are shooting. I have a 70-200 f2.8 as well as a 300 f2.8 with 1.4 and 2x extenders also I have 24-105 and 17-40. The 24-105 gets little use these days as I am usually shooting fast action photos at Rodeo or there sporting events. I find it is easier and safer to sit back and use the 300 with either a 1.4 or 2X engender and get some really amazing action shots.

I have recently purchased a 28 - 300 f3.5 -5.6 as in some team roping events it difficult or almost impossible to capture 3 animals which are spaced out the 24 - 105 would not be close enough, but I am reasonably happy with the 28 -300
