Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 SP XR Di LD Aspherical (IF) for Canon Digital SLR Cameras

I'm thinking of getting this lens. The reviews seem pretty positive, but was wondering if if anyone here is using this lens? If so, what are your opinion of this lens?

Well it seems that nobody owns this lens. Except now, I do. I sold my Canon EF-S 10-22 and bought this lens, Used it today for an event I had to shoot

This image I took using the Canon SL1 (100D) this lens @ 62mm
    1/60 sec @ f/2.8, ISO 200

It certainly looks nice and sharp with good detail.
Looks like it should serve you well.

The quick answer to your question is yes. It will probably become the walk around lens on the SL1 (100D). The build quality is not event close to the 24-105L however to have a lens that has a f/2.8 from 28-75 is a dream lens over the standard kit lens. It is very light, so coupled with the SL1(100D) does not add the weight that the 24-105L does. For additional images from yesterday's event, check here.

I've heard good feedback about this lens.

I bought one s/h a while back just because it was up for a very low price. I have a 17-50 Sigma 2.8 as my 'all rounder' but am keeping this as a back up and in case I buy a FF body at some point. To be honest I've yet to use it at all!

Build may not be as good as Canon L, but it's a lovely compact lens and light to carry as you say - and perhaps less intimidating when photographing people!
