    16-35 F4 Opinions?

I've decided it's time to buy a new lens and the 16-35 F4 is what I'm thinking about getting. Anyone got one or used one?
If I don't get this I would probably look to a fast wide prime. I'm also considering selling my 24-105 which means my normal bag would become 16-35, Sigma 50 and 70-300L. I know from having the Fuji with a fixed 35mm that I could use that a lot for walkabout with the wide end for landscape. I'd possibly miss the flexibility at the longer end. Any thoughts?

I use the 16-35 and its a great lens with a DOF thats almost endless - this was taken at 16mm F6.7 and whilst a bracket shot one was down to 1/15 as the IS is very good - Personally I wouldn't sell the 24-105 as thats my walkabout

Big tick in the box for the 16-35 f4 from me. I got one earlier this year and my 24-105 is putting on weight from all the lazing around it now does But that's because I am mainly interested in landscape - some of the images from walking around in Sri Lanka earlier this year could have done with a bit more reach.

Not sure of the best way to check if you have a gap in lens coverage. In Lightroom you can filter on metadata - and it is customisable so you can add focal length to the filter list. in My case I discovered I have a few hundred images in that 35 to 50 range that you would lose by selling the 24-105. Not sure any of them are killer images mind you so probably not a big loss to me.

The 16-35 f4 L IS is the lens that is mostly on my camera. Super sharp wide open, IS is very good & the bonus is it isn't too heavy. I suppose it depends on your style of photography but I find this one of the most useful lenses I have.

Just on this subject, isn't the tried and tested 17-40mm f4 lens as good as the 16-35mm lens?

              In a word, no

The 17-40 suffers from quite noticeable barrel distortion at 17mm when used on a FF sensor (still evident on a crop, just not as bad).
The 16-35 f4 virtually eliminates this, and is a bit sharper. It preforms equally well wide open or stopped down and is more consistent over it's focal range.
