cheers ...I've made some cash over the last 4 weeks, but I'm not under an illusion this lens will make me "real" money - by the time I shoot the next villa £500 .... just a tad short on the price ;O)... but you never know

Not a lens I'd use enough to warrant a purchase but still envious. Looking forward to some spectacular images, so no pressure then!

                    Re: New Toy 11-24

                    I've posted a photo up ...

My first hand view on the lens..

Its not a lens you want to bolt on and walk around with, not because of the weight but you do get a tad paranoid over the front element as its only just inside the hood and worry about scratching it walking around - Whilst the weight isn't an issue as I'm used to 70-200 & 100-400 it does feel a lot more unbalanced than the longer lenses and when holding the camera you feel as though more control is needed...and last lens flares !! its bad and you really have to be careful where you point it towards and with a fixed hood you can't rotate it, even tried putting my hand across to stop it but it became to unstable

                    Good points

The DOF is amazing even wide open - IS is stunning and I took photos at 1/10 with no shake and its SOOOO wide and I can get shots that I never thought possible..

                    Overhaul

I'm pleased with it, it will live in my bag longer than I thought but when doing shots like village streets, churches or in tight places I know it will give me just what I want and should I need a long exposure free hand holding to 1/10 isn't a problem and "could" go lower

                      Re: New Toy 11-24

Thanks for this review Ian. One of the cons of my departed Sigma lens was the protruding bulbous lens. Although it had a fitted lens hood to prevent flare etc, I found that I did get flare even when pointing the lens away from bright lights. The other con was that it was not possible to use a filter, which I am paranoid about and tend to use on all my lenses.

agree - I know some don't but its the first thing that goes on the lens when it comes out of the box

Believe this lens has slot at rear for gel filters, so if you want to use creative filters this is an option.

Cheers Ant - My only interest would be to protect the front element and I don't use filters like that and prefer PP

Do you have any more shots to show us? As well as drooling over this lens I'd also love the 17mm TS-E!!! Just cannot justify the expense.
