    Another quandary

    Helpppppppppppppp
    Canon EF 24-105 f/4L
    or
    Tokina Pro DX mkii 12-24
budget limits me pretty much to these two, like a w/a but with only the Canon100-400 would the 24-105 be more versatile?

without a second thought the 24-105 over your other choice, it gives you more range and for many here its the standard walkabout lens

Cheers Ian, that's good enough for me, going on the 1d iv so it'll be lighter too.

nice - you can get some pretty good deals on the 24-105 the only thing that would make me change is when the mk ii (hopefully) 2.8 comes out ;o)

What's a white box London RM special when it's at home?

I've always assumed a white box to mean its usually split from kits ...so a new lens but cheaper because its not got the Canon box, but does that really matter? I don't think so

Agree with Ian. The 24-105 is the must have lens for me too. Very versatile with good glass too

24-105 still a great lens despite age of design.

                  £425 from HDEW at moment.

I'm sorely tempted by the 24-105 but worry the 24 won't be short enough on a crop sensor :/

agree on a crop its not that wide, but it really depends on what your interests are - when I had a crop I was using 11-16 Tokina / 24-105 L and was able to get all the shots I wanted
