Hi, I had the same problem with a 24-105mm l lens, check out Paul Adams on eBay, he did a great job. £40 for the repair of your lens.

There are two versions of the Canon 18-135. The newer one is more expensive but the older version (which is by no means ancient) is £295 at WEX currently: http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-c...-lens/p1531368 I've got this lens and whilst not L lens quality it's not bad at all and a handy range.
