    Ef 70 ~ 300 is usm

    I am still waiting on my EF 50mm F1.8 to arrive, very poor service from an E-bay 'Power' Seller......
    So, to cheer meself up a bit I ordered a EF 70 ~ 300mm IS USM lens on Thursday night, form another E-bay seller, it arrived today. I had a wee play about with it in the house this afternoon for a wee while, it looks to be good but I really couldn't get far enough away form stuff due to the long minimum focal distance, and it seems like it need loads of light. I will taking this lens for a wee walk tomorow if it is nice up to a local reservoir where I hope to be taking pics of, again what ever takes my fancy.
    So for a while I think my lens collection is complete, when the little 50mm arrives.........
    I am looking forward to piggy backing the camera and 70~300mm onto the telescope and see what sort of widefield I can get....

      I have the 70-300 lens and yes it does like light but with the IS you can get away with some pretty slow shutter speeds, enjoy yourself and let us see some of your results.

        How are you finding the 70-300mm IS lens ,have you tried it out yet Gary. I have found it to be a good peace of kit.

          I have been out walking, once, with the 70~300. I did have a few shots with it but wasn't overlly happy with them. There is nowt wrong with the lens, just that there was nowt that really caught my eye.
          I did think there would be water birds on the reservoir, but they were way to far out to take pics of.
          I think that lens is good, I just need to pratice with it. It is heavy and looks a bit out of place on the small body 1000d but it seems to perform well.

            I know what you mean about its size i have used my 70-300mm IS on the 350 D.

              Have you thought of using it for Macro? it works quite well
