    wish list

    What would be your realistic wish list of lenses?

    As I asked, I'll start.

    1, Canon efs10-22 or Sigma 10-22 (either is good enough)
    2, Canon 24-105L (classic walkabout lens)
    3, Canon 100-400 f4IS L or Sigma 150-500 (this one is the more difficult choice)
    4, Canon ef135 soft focus lens
    5, Canon 45mm tilt and shift
    6, Canon Mpe (?) 1-5x Macro lens
    7, Canon 17-40L (for the full frame body I'm gonna buy!)
    8, Canon ef 300L prime lens (sports)

    That's it for me, covers most bases. Nothing Too outrageous. Still cost a bit though.

    Be interested to see how this compares with others!!!!!!!!!

    I would like to upgrade my 70-200
    85mm 1.2L
    400mm2.8
    24-105L

      I have the 10-22 efs ans 100 f2.8L IS Macro soe would be looking for an upgrade to the

      Canon 24-105L
      Toss up between Canon 70-200 F4L IS with 1.4x extender or the new Canon 70-300 L lens
      (logic being that at 280mm the 70-200 would need the 1.4x and be F5.6 the same as the 70-300)
      Canon ef135 f2L sharp focus
      Canon ef200 f2.8L
      Canon ef300 f4 (I wouldn't want the weight of the f2.8 nor could I consider the cost)
      Canon 1.4x and 2x extenders
      Canon 12mm and 25mm extension tubes

      Not much so if I can find a different bank from the one Coda is about to hit we should be OK

        I wish I knew enough to know what to wish for to be honest. I do know that I would probably spend too much money trying to 'buy' the best result rather than make do and learn the basics if I had the money..

        It's a bloody expensive game this ain't it.

          Currently I have
          1, Canon 18-55 non IS
          2, Canon 55-250 IS
          3, Canon ef 100-300 f4-5.6
          4, Tamron SP90Di 2 macro

          So you can see why and where I need (oh how I wish) to upgrade. 24-105L definitely a popular choice.....I'm hiring one next week, actually arrives on Friday and got it until Sun 27th. Can't wait

            To be honest, my wish list is what I've got plus a couple of decent fast primes - 50mm f/1.4, a nice 400mm and a 17mmT/S.

            As opposed to my 'ooh, I'd like one of those' list, which is much longer!
            Canon EOS7D mkII+BG-E16, Canon EOS 7D+BG-E7, Canon EF-S 10-22 f/3.5-4.5, Tamron Di-II 17-50 f2.8, Canon EF 24-105 f/4L IS, Canon EF 70-200 f/4L, Sigma 30mm f1.4 DC HSM 'Art', Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM, Sigma 1.4x DG, Canon Speedlight 430EX II (x2)

              Got and use a lot 24-105 LIS, 200 F2.8 L, 180 L macro+ extension tubes and a Siggy 300 F2.8 and Canon 1.4x converter.
              Got and used little 70-300 IS.

              Want a lot 500 F4 LIS and a 16-35 L.
              If pushed for a third would be the 85L F1.2.

                  Whats the siggy like? Does the convertor fit it?

                    800mm f5.6 L IS

                    Hmmm, that's not very much. Thought long and hard about the new 200 - 400mm with built-in 1.4x, but I am into my primes for telephoto's .......... inconvenient though they are!

                    I have added the 17mm TSE. I don't do a lot of landscapes, but the Tilt & Shift lens could tempt me.

                      Okay, assuming it's for stuff I don't have (rather than if I were starting again with the money I've spent so far refunded) then:
                      * Extender 2x III
                      * EF 8-15mm f/4 L

                      If it's also stuff I don't have to pay for:
                      * TS-E 24mm f/3.5 L II
                      * 1.4x Extender III
                      * EF 500mm f/4.0 L IS II
                      * The rumoured constant f2.8 successor to the 17-55 f2.8 (even though I don't have a camera to put it on right now)
                      * 200-400 1.4x
                      * oh, and of course EF 200mm f/2.0 L IS
                      * Plus while I'm at it a Carl Zeiss Lightweight Zoom LWZ.2 15.5-45mm plus one of the Panavisions (24-275mm T2.8 or 135-420 T2.8, hey why not both), not that I really do movies, but it would be nice to see what you get for £20K+ (I think the Zeiss is £20K, the Panavisions may well be more, I don't know).
                      (If I got that lot I'd definitely buy a 7D to put the four EFS lenses on.)

                        Some of these expensive lenses ... the Zeiss 1700mm f/4 (Yes 1,700mm) Click if you want to see this monster and John's Zeiss zoom (Click) ... just because it's a good looker not that I do cine (much).

                        A TS-E is always handy.

                          More of a want than a need, the 17mm TSE. Can't think of anything else although the more I get into wildlife photography the more I'll probably "want" the 800mm.....

                              That's 1700 * 1.6 * 1.4 = 3808mm f5.6 (about 75x magnification [based on 50mm being a notional 1x]).
