Waiting for Stock of Canon RF100-500mm lens

    Hi All
I bought my R5 in March and I foolishly sold my Canon EF100-400 mkii thinking I would be able to purchase the new RF100-500 within a couple of weeks, Wrong !!
I have been waiting for 3 months and no retailer knows how long I will have to wait for one. The stock availability date is constantly being put back.
I assume it is due to parts shortage of micro chips etc.
Has anyone heard anything from Canon, think the lens has been out a year now !!
    Thanks

    Doug

I wouldn't want to get it from there, how come all the main retailers in the UK and even B&H in the US don't have any stock but they do ?
The best option would be to go to B&H when stock is available and buy one there and save £1000, its less in dollars than it is in pounds !!

From what I've been told by someone that is very much in the know. Dealers do have them but are not putting them on their web sites, it's very much a case if you pop in to purchase a R5/R6 then they have one for you.

Oh okay, I have just contacted Canon on the shop website and they gave the standard answer, that they didnt know when stock is due.
When pushed they just said it is due to covid and brexit issues !
I see that stock is available on the lens I sold the 100-400ii so I reckon it will be production issues on that lens and other RF glass

I have exactly the same problem with ordering the EF24-105mm II. 3 months and counting. Same reasons guessed at!

Canon 90D, 77D, Plus a load of lenses, especially macro.

Canon are busy selling R cameras and deleting EF items as fast as they can despite the fact that they don't have stock of several RF lenses and have no stock of adapters. 6 Zoom lenses listed as out of stock and 3 prime lenses. I have an R6, none of the RF lenses I want are in stock, fortunately I have adapters and can use my Sigma glass.
                  Customer (don't) care?

No longer using Canon but still teaching new Canon users (and others) the gentle art of Photography.
