Problems with old Sigma 50mm lens on R6 ii

I thought that I would try my old Sigma 50mm EX 1.4 DG HSM on my Canon R6 II with the EF/RF adaptor.

I was surprised to see concentric circles on both the viewfinder and the rear screen. They do not appear on the recorded image. The lens is also continually ‘seeking’ to focus.

Has anyone any ideas on either of these problems?
