    Tamron 70-300 VC

Anyone used it? Thinking of a lighter travel zoom for backpacking instead of the 100-400 which is for Air shows really!
How does it compare with the 70-300 IS
And indeed the 70-300 IS L (Yes I know!!)
Reports suggest it lies somewhere in the middle of the two but I get tired of reading reviews and prefer real world knowledge...
    Cheers jules...

    Re: Tamron 70-300 VC

Friend of mine bought one to go the light lens route.

It was certainly light, but as he was used to L series glass, the quality was never going to impress. He finally chopped it in for a 70 - 300mm L IS and is delighted with the results, though not necessarily the weight.

I was sort of hoping you wouldn't say that but fully understanding what was coming, if you know what I mean. You get what you pay for I guess, the L makes less sense when I have the 100-400 so I may have to look closer at the old 70-200 F4's again...
