    Machinery Effects 2

I've mentioned this software in one of my threads, but thought I'd post it here too.

I am in no way linked to the software company and there's no gain for me in posting the info.

The effects you see are possible thanks to HDR technology (High dynamic range imaging), a technique due to which the range of brightness and colors is much greater than in the case of standard photography.

MACHINERY is a program that utilizes HDR technology. You do not need to be an expert to achieve dazzling effects – even from a single image saved in JPG format!
MACHINERY is easy to use thanks to an intuitive interface and the available set of options. Predefined settings allow the user to achieve professional HDR effects with just a single click of the mouse!
There's a demo version available to download.

Machinery HDR Effects 3 generates fantastic effects and is unbelievably easy to use! You do not need to be an expert to achieve dazzling effects, even from a single image saved in JPG format!

Thanks for this, it looks very interesting. Unfortunately they don't do it for Mac.

I've tried it, it is really quite good (apart from my laptop not being fast enough to process things) there are loads of presets and you can do a lot of tweaking - much more variety for different HDR images than DPP - some harsh, some very subtle

only thing stopping me buying it is my laptop (instead of just using the demo, which is fully functioning just a bit of a limit on output file size)

I agree Ian, it can make a world of difference to an image. My sun and water photo was transformed from being quite dull and flat, to being quite vibrant. I suppose there are arguments for and against using such software, but I think that if the end result is an image more in tune with what our eyes see, that's not a bad thing. It can be overdone though.

          It can be overdone though.
it is all personal taste, I would not say I like or dislke HDR per se, I look at the image, and I either like it or I don't - it might be hdr it might not. It is just another flavour, sure it can be too much for my eyes, but I love the way some artists use it - like Joel Grimes for example, and RC Conception (of Scott Kelby fame) - he is quite over the top with it some would say , but I like the end result more often than not, I also love Dave Hill's work (no, not the guitarist from Slade) - brilliant work, and so what if they resemble painted of cartoon-like images - it does not lessen my appreciation for other good photographers who steer clear of it.

Imagine what the prevalent painters of the time thought when the first impressionists began to come to the fore

Just my thoughts, I know some hate HDR - I just try not to dislike something simply because it is HDR. I realize that some feel it is or might be seen as a way of hiding not so good photography (like auto-tune is used to make a poor singer sound good), or simply jumping on a fad or trend and doing it to death (and doing it badly at the same time) and I think this is true, but there are some great artists out there who make great images and it does not have to be subtle to be good.

            Hi Andy
I've just downloaded the free demo, As a test i did one HDR in dpp and then ran the same three images in Machinery.
The two results were both fine but Machinery software gives you so much more control over the final image so looks to be a good buy if you like to shoot HDR images,
I would but both images on this post but because Machinery is only a demo i can't save to jpeg ( point made by Ian)so can't open in other software,I'll put the Dpp one below.

Paul, I'm fairly sure that you can save to jpeg, but at a max resolution of 1280x.
BTW, this software works well on single image files, you don't need 3 differently exposed images.

Thanks Andy I've found the jpeg save file, and altered my post.
