Yep would be my advice also. Ian you didn't buy the I drive then? I did but to be honest it's only been out of its box once. Same with the trackpad

nope had a pretty good idea I wouldn't need it - I got the trackpad but just couldn't get on with it so just use the mouse, Julia stuck with it and she loves hers and prefers it to a mouse now

          Thanks
Been on the site and could not find it, only updates. Sorted now, I copied the files from the disc to a USB stick and installed it that way.

I've never looked but I'd be amazed if there wasn't a download on the Canon site - but least your sorted now

My last laptop didn't have a cd drive either, as it was a small 11" screen one I bought to go in my backpack camera bag, so I bought an off-board cd drive that plugs into a USB port on the laptop. Obviously you don't need it this time, but it might be worth considering in future, they're dirt cheap at Maplins or PC World.

If you have another computer on your home network, you can share the DVD drive, and then you can use it for any installations on your laptop.

I found the software here after about 30 seconds looking - http://www.canon.co.uk/support/consu...uage=&os=LINUX

Not sure why it says Linux at the end of the url though. The only drawback is you need to enter your cameres serial number to complete the download. That always strikes me as a bit odd, it's only of use if you have a Canon camera so why need the serial number...

I did think it would be there considering Mac users that have no CD drives

Yup. I've downloaded both versions in the past, windows and OSX, without any problems...
