Lightroom is geared towards photography from the off. Editing is a quick and simple affair with the library management thrown in. You can get a trial to see how you get on with it, I've never looked back myself.

I suggest that you start off with downloading a trial version of Lightroom prior to purchasing it. Note: you may have to download the Creative Cloud Version of the software unless someone here can point you towards where on the Adobe site the perpetual licence trial version resides.

The major difference between Corel PSP and Lightroom is that Lightroom has a great Digital Asset Management (DAM) capability which creates a catalogue of all of your images.

You may be better only using the LR DAM on newly imported images *, taking the time to add keywords to the newly imported images is the way to go IMO for a trial to see if you like it. Should you decide that LR is the application for you; at that time you could then revisit your older images to add key wording.

      * On the initial install Lightroom searches your PC/Mac for existing images and creates a catalogue.

You really need to view some of the videos to get an idea of best practice for the use of Lightroom but you could just jump in and try if you're feeling lucky

Have a look at the following to see an overview of the LR capabilities LINK

There are more videos here LINK and lots of other tutorials on places like youtube. IHTH

      EDIT:
Heres a link to the Adobe trial version of LR it is the Creative Cloud version but you can aledgedly purchase a serial number for a perpetual licenced version and add that to the CC trial. LINK Good luck

Thank you both for your input and suggestions, I have now downloaded the free trial of LR & will play with it for the next month.

        Thanks again
