    Will DPP4 overwrite DPP3?

    I use a 60D which came with DPP3, I now also have a 100D that came with DPP4.
Can I use DPP4 for both cameras? If not, will DPP4 overwrite DPP3, or to I have to tell it to install to a different place?

I don't know with DPP but if I've upgraded software its always overwritten the current installed version, whilst DPP3 is for another camera, DDP4 is used by that camera, so not sure how you would stop this, maybe one option would be to have another user start up on your system? but it seems a lot of aggro to hold onto an older version of the software

Can I ask why you don't want to upgrade ?

I am not sure if I will be able to process files from the 60D in DPP4.

yes looks like you could be right - why not set up a restore point on your PC then you can install DPP4 and should it overwrite DPP3 just use the restore point and reset the PC

Some software will allow multiple versions to co exist if you change from the default install folder. It depends on how it then stores its configuration files. As an example, I have PS Cc, and cs2. I've not tried with dpp though.

I have both DPP3 and DPP4 on my machine - they appear to install in different directories.

Since not all .cr2 files can yet be processed in DPP4 (although I believe the range is increasing) Canon would be a bit stupid to not allow both versions to co-exist.

I have both versions on my machine and they co-exist fine. I still have my old 550D as a backup to my 7DMKII, the raw files of which can only be processed in DPP3. Would be nice if the 550D was added to the list for DPP4 but I'm not holding my breath.

I will load it, taking care to observe where it is installing itself. Thanks.
