    Flickr and Firefox

I can no longer upload from our 2 home PC's onto flickr. It accepts the picture and then times out uploading- the bar stops at 5 %. Both these machines run on Firefox

Just tried to upload from my laptop which runs on Chrome- success!

This may or may not have originated from the time I tried to put the flickr app onto an ipad which took a lot of checking and rechecking that I was human before it accepted it. Since then just in case i have removed the ipad app but no change on my main machines

Are there any computer savvies out there who can help please?

    Re: Flickr and Firefox

I use firefox to upload on to flickr without any problems. I don't use any apps as I am told that it causes too much trouble. I am not an expert in IT and so I keep things as simple as possible.

      Bo
I've just uploaded an image to my Flickr account without any issues. I export to Flickr direct from Lightroom but I do use Firefox as my browser of choice.

        Re: Flickr and Firefox

Thanks for the input Nat. If I can't resolve this I can always change my server(right word?) to Chrome.

Will take a bit of fiddling and cussing....

Thanks Peter & Nat. So no specific fault with Firefox as a browser (thanks, got the word now) it seems , just my particular hook up.

              Re: Flickr and Firefox

For some time I have been unable to upload to flickr via Internet Explorer - timeouts etc which started when they did an upgrade so it would appear IE is no longer supported which may be the case with Firefox as well.

I now use either Chrome or Opera with no problems

I've just tried that method and it works fine for me!

I'm using Firefox (version 43.0.4) Here's the result:-

                      Re: Flickr and Firefox

I don't think there is a general problem uploading to Flickr from Firefox.

Given your problem Bo, I'm wondering if it is related to the particular file (or files) that you are trying to upload. Could you try uploading a file that you have successfully loaded in the past (you can always delete it again afterwards) to see if this might be the case. If that works then try the new files one by one to see if you have a dodgy file.

                          Re: Flickr and Firefox

i have no problems uploading from safari and it appears neither do most p.c users ,so it then comes back to what your doing .can i just ask are you uploading processed files or straight from the camera j-pegs in either case the finished files should be resized to around 1024pixels or 1536 pixels along the largest edge ..
this will tie in with flickrs own sizing policy and should be a virtually instant upload .if your trying to upload full sized files the uploader times out as it can't handle the size adjustments .

every shot i process when finished is exported to my desktop then uploaded as a j.peg from there to flickr ,i should think p.c's work the same .
                          let us know .?????
