Re: Why can't I edit RAW?

In which case, I'm pretty-well out of suggestions... Unless anybody else can chip in...

Can you take it to a decent outlet, and just have an 'expert' check what you're doing, to make absolutely sure we're not overlooking something really simple & stupid here?

Otherwise, it looks like a job for Canon, or one of their specialists... Is the 450D new, or used, or still in warrenty?

Feel free to edit & re-post as you see fit - but please - tell me what you have done to 'improve' the shot!

      It's got me beat too

      Please try this:

      1. format a card in the camera.
      2. Put it into you PC via a slot or card reader.
      3. Go to my computer, right click and view the properties of the card, take note the free space.

Set the camera to AV mode and set to raw only

Take a picture, then repeat steps 2 + 3 Let us know if the card shows less space available than it had b4 you took the single raw

The above will determine if the camera is actually recording anything, if it is, we can move on to why they are not visible on your PC. BTW have you tried another PC ?

Re: Why can't I edit RAW?

I found a similar problem reported by someone on another forum and he managed to sort it out eventually. He was using a 450D and reported that one day he could shoot RAW and the next day he could not.
The following is what he reported back to the forum about how he solved the problem..... maybe worth a try...

When you press MENU,Quality you are presented with a list of 6 qualities in one column starting at an L with a icon like a sail before it.I selected the top one as to the right of it in a separate column of 2 entries it says "RAW+sail L" which I thought was the explanation of the entry!
Obviously I have just realised (after getting back from holiday) that if you scroll right from sail L you can select the high quality RAW option as this is an option not an explanation .

Yippeeee!!! Solved at last. David got it in one with the quote from the previous sufferer. I felt it had to be a blunder on my part rather than in the camera but, in fairness, I do think Canon's instructions could be a bit clearer. However, from now on I will scroll every which way in all menus - just in case.

Thank you so much Cannon-Fodder, Trev, brianquibb and David. I am very grateful to you all. Several brains are definitely better than (my) one.

              Glad I managed to help.
So, now let us see the shots you have taken.
