I see from other fora that vBulletin allows different coloured skins. I don't know if they come as standard: if they do could we have charcoal grey? It makes for much more relaxed viewing and the posted images look far more impressive.

I have to agree with the grey. Even if skins aren't practicable, how about just toning down the background a little. I know some people already have a preference for attaching images as opposed to using the link facility, purely because of the way the image is displayed. It's a bit restrictive though with a limit of 280px on the vertical.
