Although I have given away all my Canon film cameras, I know a small crowd who still use Canon film cameras. I think that it is unfair for these (few) people to be excluded from challenges, based on their inability to provide exif data for their shots, proving that the terms of the challenge were observed.

With regard to photo challenges, I can think of no practical reason for the "previous 12-month period" term for the shot to have been taken. People travel and on occasions, a photographer might have taken superb photos, during travel, that would qualify for the challenge, but taking such again could be practically impossible (or quite costly).
