    Re: Photobucket to forum

Trev - do you use the Pro version of Photobucket? As I am not familiar with Photobucket are there various ways to upload images ... quick, High Resolution, etc. ? One assumes like Flickr you can reference the 640px wide variant (of the image you uploaded) for using as a URL from this forum?

I have heard before some folk have no issues with it (and it's as good as Flickr), whereas others do.

What I'm angling at here (if for a moment we keep to the side, any inherent issues in the original) ... do different versions of Photobucket behave differently and are there some ways to upload that are better than others? I don't know so I'm asking.

        In flickr open your image.
At the top of the image click on "Share"
At the bottom of the drop down box ensure the BBCode is highlighted _Do this first.
Above that select your preferred size - usually Medium 640(640x462)_Do this second
Then in the box that says "Copy and paste the code below" do just that. Right click, Copy, then Paste into your reply on here.
        Bingo. Job done.

            Re: Photobucket to forum

Does this make any sense to the expert/experienced members on the forum. I recently reduced the photo sizes via Zombrowser by going into the "export" side and reduced the sizes to 400 x400. I then, for the question where do you want this exported to, I clicked "to my folders". Since then, when I upload from the folder to Photobucket, and click on the re-size prompt, I get the maximum size as 400. Whereas before I meddled with ZB, I had to always reduce the photo size, using the re-size prompt,to say 800 or 600 before posting on to the forum. Could this have any effect on the images posted on the forum?

                Re: Photobucket to forum

                Hi

Nat, sorry, I don't use ZB any more! I'm DPP and some tweaks in PSE9.

My work flow is... adjust levels / contrast etc. Crop. Save. If I'm posting to the Forum, I use DPP to 'convert and save' into a folder I reserve for my Flickr uploads - this produces a JPG.
                Note - no re-sizing yet!

I use the Flickr Uploader to load multiple files (if I want) to flickr - this adjusts the file size to whatever Flickr wants! I then just grab the BB Code for including in a thread.

I had 'issues' with picture quality when I tried to re-size my shots for the EOYS. I wasn't, and I'm still not happy with the quality of the shot when trying to reduce to under 800K, but the rules is the rules, and I did my best.

What do I determine from this... well, the people at Flickr are better at reducing the size of my photos than I am, so I leave it to them!

                Hope that helps! Mike.

                  Re: Photobucket to forum

Thanks folks. My problems really started when I tried to re-size my pics for EOYS. However, I am now relieved that my lens/lenses are not at fault beacause I have sent e-mail attachments from my computer to some members who were good enough to give me their e-m addresses. The feedback I have received is that there isn't much wrong with my images and the problem is more on the side of uploading and transferring the pictures.

Guitarjeff, You need to select the insert image icon on the toolbar and post the BB code into the popup box. Delete the opening http:// code as the image code you have copied already includes that.

guitarjeff/Petros, Thank you very much. I think I have resolved this problem by NOT using Zoombrowser to edit and upload via PB to the forum. Somehow I don't think ZB and PB agree. I now use PSE to edit and then post via PB, and the pics appear sharp. I will also give Flickr a "go" as well.

                                Regards
